Dukkee Chung's 2026 Art Song Recital: There Stand My Father and Mother

- An art song recital by composer Dukkee Chung, "Korea's Schubert“ - A heartfelt tribute to "Father" and "Mother," to the lives and love of parents, shaped in poetry and melody Composer Dukkee Chung, hailed as "Korea's Schubert" and "the master of art song" for opening unrivaled horizons in Korean art song, will present an art song recital on the evening of Tuesday, December 1, 2026, at the Sejong Chamber Hall of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. The concert spotlights the art songs Chung has written on the theme of "Father" and "Mother," the deepest roots of our lives. Chung has devoted his life to composition, producing some 1,000 works. With his exceptional literary sensibility and deeply felt melodies, he will convey to audiences the sublime love of family and the longing it leaves behind. The program features Chung's signature lyrical songs set to 18 poems about fathers and mothers, including poet Jongmun Lee's 'There Stands My Father,' Miyoung Kim's 'Father's A-Frame Carrier,' Soonhee Lee's 'May I Cry a Little?' and Myunghee Lee's 'Beyond That Sky.' Through music that reads like lyric poetry, the concert portrays the work-worn hands and warm embrace of parents who protected their children through the hardships of everyday life. The performers bring together leading Korean singers and accompanists who are active on opera and art song stages in Korea and abroad: sopranos Hyungsoon Kim, Mihwa Park, and Ahyoung Jung; tenor Sejun Eom; baritones Boram Kim and Sungkook Kim; and pianists Sokang Kim and Sua Yang. 주최: 세종문화회관
