2024 Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Series VI: Richard Egarr

행사 소개

After a long interval, now we can take a chance to appreciate the real baroque chamber music. Richard Egarr and the Academy of Ancient Music teamed up to release a series of Handel albums under Harmonia Mundi France. In particular, he has played and recorded the Handel trio sonatas Op. 2 and Op. 5 with fascinating and superb techniques. Charming variations, powerful energy, and pliable rhythm of Handel's chamber music are conveyed through bright and dynamic performance and pleasant warmth. A trio sonata refers to trio-sound music where there are three melody lines. The upper two of the three parts is played by two melodic instruments, and the basso continuo part is usually played by two or more instruments. It is the most common sonata composition during the Baroque period. Baroque sonatas are categorized into Sonata da chiesa and Sonata de camera according to the place of performance and the role of music. Sonata da chiesa is played during Mass and consists of four movements of Adagio-Allegro-Adagio-Allegro, while Sonata de camera is mainly played at the court in the form of dance suite. Handel's trio sonatas mostly follow the Sonata da chiesa. Handel's chamber music is mainly divided into solo and trio sonatas. Handel's trio sonatas include Op. 2, the collection of six trio sonatas, and Op. 5, the collection of seven trio sonatas. In this concert, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra will feature five pieces from Op. 2 and Op. 5, contained in the aforementioned albums. Richard Egarr will play the harpsichord, and Heo Sang-mi, Jo Eun-joo (violin), and Jang Ji-hee (cello) will get together in the concert with members of the orchestra. The FLASIC Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2019 by young artists at home and abroad with the top-tier talents and rich experience to present game music concerts under the leadership of artistic director Jin Sol. Grand and magnanimous, but sometimes lyrical and romantic feeling lingered, the musical epic of game music is presented in Kore 주최: 세종문화회관
