Air Echoes Into Open Unison To mark the 140th anniversary of Korea-France diplomatic relations, six French and Korean musicians turn their attention to sound as something that lives and moves through the relationship. Jeongga and medieval chant, haegeum and viola da more seep into one another; geomungo, electronic music, and percussion intersect; and the breath of artists and audience merges with the noise of the city. Sound artist Rémi Klemensiewicz, Yeji Kim on haegeum, Olivier Marin on viola d'amore, Eun-yong Sim on geomungo, Christian Ploix singing medieval vocal music, and Cho Yoon-young singing jeongga—across the breath and vocalization, the friction and resonance of these six artists, we indulge in a borderlessness in which the heart of the city breathes as a living resonant body. Look closely, and sound — through the act of forging relationships — becomes melody, harmony, and rhythm, organized into music that carries emotion. Language works the same way: vowels meet consonants to become sound, and phonemes combine into words and sentences.
