Composer : Giacomo Puccini Original work : Scènes de la vie de bohème (Scenes of Bohemian Life) by Henri Murger Libretto : Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa Synopsis A garret in the Latin Quarter of Paris, where poor young artists live together. In an unheated room in the cold of winter, the writer Rodolfo is talking with the painter Marcello when the philosopher Colline comes in; Rodolfo throws the manuscript of his own play into the stove and lights a fire with it. Their friend the musician Schaunard arrives, announcing that he has earned money by playing, and takes them all out to enjoy Christmas Eve. Rodolfo stays behind to finish his writing, and falls in love with Mimì, the young woman from next door who has come to ask for a light for her candle. They begin to live together, but Rodolfo, unable to bear the knowledge that his poverty is worsening Mimì's illness, parts from her. Weakened further by the separation, Mimì returns to Rodolfo and dies with the man she loves and their friends looking on. 주최: 세종문화회관
