Photo Shin-joong Kim RULE the PLAY, PLAY the RULE Founded by Cyr wheel artist Kwon Haewon, the contemporary circus creative group CodeSassy expands circus beyond a mere display of virtuosity into the language of contemporary performing arts. Circus apparatuses are no longer treated as cold objects, but are reimagined as aesthetic instruments of play that awaken the senses—recalling the pure memory of drawing a single line in the sand to create a world of our own. Lines drawn across the stage reconfigure the familiar black box theater into an unfamiliar space of play, where the body becomes a language that both proves and dismantles rules. Within this playground, some create rules, some follow and enjoy them, while others twist and cross those lines to discover new forms of play. The performers’ refined techniques, traversing between risk and balance, together with Mogwaa’s live music—spanning from 1980s punk to techno, ambient, and house without genre constraints—create a rhythm of tension and release. Within this shifting field of control and liberation, the audience no longer remains a passive observer, but experiences both tension and release through their own bodies, becoming active participants in the play. This performance was developed and produced based on work created with support from the 2025 Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture (SFAC) Street Arts & Circus Creation Support Program. 주최: 세종문화회관
