2026 Anyone Can Enjoy Classical with the Gangneung Philharmonic Orchestra

For the April edition of “Anyone Can Enjoy Classical” in 2026, conductor Min Chung, widely praised for his insightful interpretations, appears with the Gangneung Philharmonic Orchestra, a leading orchestra of the Yeongdong region of Gangwon-do. Joining them is cellist Taeguk Mun, internationally recognized for his distinctive musicality and exceptional virtuosity. With commentary by violinist and music presenter Daehwan Kim, the program features two monumental works: Antonín Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104 and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp minor. Dvořák’s concerto, regarded as one of the greatest works in the cello repertoire, combines lyrical beauty with dramatic intensity. Performed by Taeguk Mun, the work unfolds its expressive depth and powerful musical narrative. In the second half, Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 presents a grand symphonic journey encompassing human struggle and joy, lyricism and grandeur. With its sweeping emotional landscape — from the solemn opening funeral march to the radiant finale — the symphony resonates with profound intensity in the concert hall.
