SPO Chamber Series III: Dvorak and Dohnanyi

The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Chamber Series III will present chamber music works by Eastern European composers. The first piece they will perform is Dvorak's America, an eternal classic of string quartet that gets you feeling nostalgic. As the greatest pair with From the New World, Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, the musical piece America is progressed in natural, humane and lovely tunes, and in particular, its second movement vividly portrays his life in the USA, beautiful scenery, and longing for his home country, through the melody of Czech and negro spirituals. The Chamber Series III will surely give you an opportunity to become more attracted to chamber music. The phrase "How beautiful the sunshine is" written by Dvorak at the end of the score tells us that the work is in line with the freshness of Komorebi (Japanese for "sunlight shining through the leaves"). The next piece they will perform is Piano Quintet No. 1 that Dohnanyi Erno, a Hungarian composer, wrote when he was 17 years old, which had captivated Brahms at once.
