Seoul Metropolitan Opera has presented "Opera Matinee" at Sejong Chamber Hall on second Tuesday of every month since August, 2013. The word Matinee originating from a French Matin meaning morning means a daytime performance. It used to mean performance held in the morning, but recently beyond the concept of time, morning or afternoon, it means performance in "early times". The second work out of "Opera Matinee" programs which have been performed on second Tuesday of every month is 'La Traviata', a great work left by "Giusepee Verdi (1813-1901)", a famous Italian opera composer. 'Traviata' has a meaning of 'a woman being on the wrong way' which describes the tragic love between 'Violeta', a heroine called a woman in social circle, and 'Alfredo', an innocent guy who loves her. Besides, you can appreciate Verdi's beautiful melodies including the famous duet (Violeta, Alfredo) 'toast song Brindisi' as well as Violeta's aria 'Strange.. always freely E strano!...
