The future of Korean traditional music comes to fruition! Gugak orchestral masterpieces are to be performed by the next generation of the Gugak musicians The term ‘Gugak orchestral music’ first emerged in 1939 and became materialized in 1965. A number of new orchestral pieces were created in different styles based on the traditional forms. Since then, the Gugak orchestral music has established itself within a relatively short time span as one of the musical genres to represent our own music. This fall will mark a special occasion in that some of the orchestral masterpieces with the historical significance will be played by the young and passionate Seoul Metropolitan Youth Traditional Music Ensemble, the next generation of the Korean traditional music. - Gugak Orchestral Piece “Dear, My Dear.
