UNJI CHAMBER ORCHESTRASERIES ⅩⅩ

행사 소개

We are delighted to welcome you to the Woonjihoe Chamber Orchestra Series XX , taking place at the Sejong Chamber Hall on September 10, as we bid farewell to the unusually hot and sweltering summer and welcome the refreshing cool breeze of early autumn. This concert, marking the 20th edition of the series , holds an especially profound and meaningful significance for Woonjihoe. Last March, the late Baek Byeong-dong , a steadfast pillar of Woonjihoe and one of the towering figures of Korea’s contemporary music scene, passed away. This performance is the first concert we are presenting in remembrance of his profound musical legacy and noble artistic spirit, and we have prepared it with particular care and devotion. The program features a monumental work that Baek Byeong-dong had hoped to revisit with an expanded ensemble but was unable to complete due to illness before his passing. The work has been completed through an arrangement by his student, Jeon Sang-jik . The concert will also feature a profound work by veteran composer Lee Jong-gu , a work by guest composer Lee In-sik , and commissioned works by mid-career composers Lee Bok-nam and Lee Han-shin , who continue to develop distinctive musical voices. Also presented will be a fresh and spirited work by emerging composer Choi Jin-seok , selected through an open competition. Bringing together veteran, mid-career, and emerging composers, this concert will offer a meaningful opportunity to look back on the past, present, and future of Korean contemporary music in a single program. We extend our deepest gratitude to all the composers who have created remarkable works despite their demanding schedules, and to the performers who have devoted themselves to preparing performances filled with resonance and meaning. We sincerely hope that you will join us despite your busy schedules, share in the current landscape of Korean contemporary music, and offer your warm encouragement and support to Woonjihoe as we continue our jou 주최: 세종문화회관
