2022 Chamber Series II: Augustin Hadelich, Artist-in-Focus [Program] Brahms, Clarinet quintet in B minor, Op. 115 Tchaikovsky, Souvenir de Florence, Op. 70 In 2022, Augustin Hadelich, who was chosen as the second musician of the year, will begin a chamber music concert series with Brahms' famous clarinet quintet. Brahms wrote this chamber music piece in 1891, six years before his death. It is this creative piece that brought him back to music at a time when he had felt limited in his creative abilities and thus been on a hiatus from composition and was ready to retire. At that time, he had already written his will. One day, he met Mullfeld, a great clarinetist of the time, at Meiningen Palace by chance. The unique and beautiful tones of the clarinet Mullfeld played rekindled the dying embers of Brahms ’ enthusiasm for creating music. This chamber music piece gracefully bears the ‘ sunset ’ and loneliness of life Brahms felt when he looked back during the last stage of his life and his feelings of resignation. Brahms Clarinet Quintet is a masterpiece transcending time, bearing the old master's rich life experience and in-depth understanding of musical instruments, thus demonstrating his emotional maturity and seasoned technique. 주최: 세종문화회관
