Photo Shin-joong Kim Something is unfolding Imagine the kind of human we will face in the not-so-distant future. If the AI we created were to become a god, how would we speak with that being? Language may not be enough — nor images. On the premise of humanity moving toward a superhuman union between human and AI, Killing Hierarchy stages a ritual: a first attempt at communication with the god of the future, through the body, light, lasers, sound, and improvisation. The theater becomes a vast scanner, and performers and audience, light and sound, are all fed in as a single phenomenon. Kwan Zi Kim, named the first-ever winner of the Changmu Prize in the performing category and closely watched by the dance world, has long explored the ritual nature of the theater, the playful nature of the madang , and the performativity of phenomena. Built on his aesthetic where ritual, play, and performance intersect, this work does not present a fabricated ideal of the human. Instead, it reveals the moment when the habits and roles, the authority and fear that have governed us — the hierarchies of our own making — collapse. As the Zen saying goes: to meet the Buddha, you must first shatter the Buddha statue you have made. Not a single movement on stage is fixed. Eight performers confront the inertia that has ruled their lives and bring it down with a single blow, while nine live artists — like the musicians of a shamanic gut — sense and amplify the phenomenon, building the arena together. Each performance exists only once, and no one knows what will happen. Your gaze and your reactions become part of this vast input. The moment hierarchy is killed, a new humanity begins. Something is already happening. 주최: 세종문화회관
