Seoul Metropolitan Theater's regular performance Omnibus Dance Drama `Seoul Arirang` - Seoul by Dance purpose - Through Seoul, the capital of Korea and the center in terms of history and culture and the symbol of Korea, diverse our society suffering from serious problems such as conflict, split and confrontation which are rampant beyond Seoul to the whole country. The performance is designed to recover the time of troubles by Arirang which every Korean people hold in mind and deliver a message of living together and becoming one. Features : It is an omnibus dance drama composed of four parts where in a fantastic and modernized Gwanghwamun, 'Seoul Arirang' begins with the sight of an old woman holding traces of time and history of Seoul on her face. By use of a wide range of materials ranging from familiar Arirangs to public songs reflecting times, it tells about the history of Seoul and citizens' life. It mainly deals with important incidents of Korea's modern history such as the assassination of the last empress Myungsung, independence movement, the Korean War, industrialization, inducement of olympics and world cup. Each episode is an independently performed omnibus dance drama. In addition, live playing, Jung Tae-chun and musical actor Yu Mee's songs maximize sense of realism, and video materials and clothes of the past times bring about the past memories to middle-aged people and freshness to young people.
