Yeoyu and Seolbin on Sync Next 26

행사 소개

Into the quiet revolution of the ordinary Praised for “piercing through the backdrop of everyday life and leaving a vivid imprint on the listener’s existence,” the folk duo Yeoyu and Seolbin, recipients of the 21st Korean Music Awards for Best Folk Album, have long drawn from the deepest layers of their lives to create songs that resonate profoundly with their audience. Rather than reenacting private pain as events, the two sing in voices that seem both fragile and unshakable, summoning the inherent role of the “song” into the present tense. The comfort they offer is not a clear answer, but something that emerges from a darkness one can linger with. In the moment they capture the delicate tremor of a life that feels as though it might break yet continues on, listeners find their own time quietly overlapping with it. For this Sync Next, Yeoyu and Seolbin revisit, through memory, their former home in Jeju—a place that deeply shaped both their lives and music. Their third album Comedy , infused with their life on the island, was selected as one of the “100 Masterpieces of Korean Pop Music of the 2000s” as part of the 20th anniversary special of EBS Space Gonggam , and was later explored in a documentary. Directors Jeongwon Hwang and Sangmin An, who experienced the duo’s home, workspace, forests, and sea while creating the documentary “Yeoyu and Seolbin – [Comedy]” , continue to observe with sensitivity the evolving flow of life and the lingering resonance of voices that remain upon it. Invited into the most intimate of spaces—the home—audiences encounter how Yeoyu and Seolbin’s music emerges from personal life, and how deeply it connects with the truths of our own ordinary existence. In a turbulent era, their quiet lyrics rush in with unexpected intensity within the rhythms of urban life, tracing the moment when a personal song crosses over into the shared memory of a community. 주최: 세종문화회관
