WOONGSAN: Here's To Life

행사 소개

WOONGSAN's 30th Anniversary Concert Here's To Life — Beyond the Boundaries of Jazz, Singing Life Itself WOONGSAN, the jazz vocalist and singer-songwriter who stands at the forefront of Korean jazz, presents Here's To Life, a concert marking thirty years since her debut. The programme gathers the whole of an artistic journey in which, over three decades, she has moved freely between blues, Latin music, Korean traditional music, classical music, and pop while keeping jazz at the centre, building a musical world entirely her own. More than one artist's anniversary concert, it will be an occasion to look at where Korean jazz stands now and where it is going. WOONGSAN has read jazz not as a single genre but as a language for holding a life and an age. Moving freely between Korean feeling and an international sensibility, between tradition and improvisation, she has built a musical philosophy of her own and arrived at a world without parallel: WOONGSAN's jazz. 'Here's To Life', the title of the concert and the title track of her eleventh album, is both a tribute to the past thirty years and a declaration toward the musical life still to come. A jazz standard that sings every season of a life, it holds the thirty years she has walked more deeply than any other piece, and it forms the centre of this concert. On stage, songs from the new album come together with long-loved signature repertoire and jazz standards, opening out her musical world in full dimension. Among them is 'The Blues of Reading Gaol', her own composition, a blues born of the work of the British writer Oscar Wilde. It asks again after the freedom of art and the value of truth, both growing fainter in the age of AI, and poses the question of what real art is in a time when technology stands in for human creation. In this song lies the message about our own moment that the concert seeks to carry. Special guests join the stage to celebrate her thirtieth anniversary: Takanori Suzuki, one of Japan's leading clar 주최: 세종문화회관
