Located in Gwanghwamun Square, the heart of Korean history and culture, Atelier Gwanghwa is an urban media façade platform that transforms the exterior wall of the Sejong Center into a vast canvas of light. The name "Atelier Gwanghwa" combines the French word "atelier," meaning an artist's workspace, with "Gwanghwa," a place that has long stood at the center of history and culture. As its name suggests, Atelier Gwanghwa proposes new possibilities for Gwanghwamun Square as an open cultural space where art, technology, and everyday city life meet. Through light art displayed on the exterior wall of the Sejong Center, it expands the familiar urban landscape into a space of new sensations, offering citizens a special artistic experience in their daily lives. Deepening Light Following Layers of Sensation: Colors of Gwanghwa, Waves of Time , the second exhibition of the 2026 Atelier Gwanghwa program, Deepening Light illuminates the moment when the heat of a midsummer city and digital energy condense into a flow of light. This flow of light unfolds scenes where the rhythms of the city and the waves of light intersect, drawing viewers into a landscape of sensation that becomes ever more vivid as the night deepens. The narrative imagery of artist Zoohyeong Song and the data-driven visual language of artist Youngkak Cho hold distinct formal textures yet connect organically. Together, they create new moments of immersion in which the city and art, reality and virtuality, overlap. Born from the intersection of classical narrative and cutting-edge technology, this resonance of light infuses new sensations and artistic vitality into everyday urban life.
