Musical Last Five Years

행사 소개

Did love... stay in the five years that they spent together? The story explores the five years of the love and marriage of Jamie, a young Jewish novelist, and Cathy, an actress in a Catholic family, and their heartbreaking breakup. The story is a composed and candid compassion on love delicately portrayed; when they started love, they expected that their love would last forever, but those felt good because they were different became uncomfortable because they were wrong, and eventually led to a breakup. It adopts a unique plot as the time order of the man and the woman intersect flowing in opposite directions. So their love and separation is more heartbreaking. The play begins with a man who is excited about the beginning of his love five years ago and a woman who is lost in grief about their breakup 15 years later. Jamie's story, which starts from his first meeting with Cathy, slowly wears out from the joy of love; Cathy's story, which begins with dissolution with Jamie, transforms from the sorrow of the failure into a feeling of brilliant first encounter. The extraordinary plot of the work, which alternately shows different timelines between man and woman on one stage in a total of 14 chapters, maximizes and makes their feelings of love and breakup even more sad. Amazingly fascinating music with acoustic classical melody, a sung-through two-hander play composed of music by Jason Robert Brown, who has been called the best American musical composer since Stephen Sondheim. The beautiful music and lyrics made by Jason Robert Brown are ‘everything’ and ‘gem’ of the musical. In tune with classical and lyrical melody incessantly played through six musical instruments, including two cellos, violin, bass, guitar, and piano, actors perfectly express the joy, frustration, agony, and pain of separation solely in songs for 90 minutes. 주최: 세종문화회관
