2026 The 13th Chong Kun Dang Gochon Art Prize

행사 소개

This exhibition brings together Park No-wan, Park Woong-gyu, and Jang Pa, the three artists selected for the 2024 Chong Kun Dang Chagok Art Award. The Chong Kun Dang Chagok Art Award was established in 2012 to provide emerging artists whose creative capabilities and potential have been recognized through major art support programs in Korea with continued opportunities for artistic production and exhibition. The program aims to provide these artists with a foundation from which they can further develop their practices and take the next step in their careers. Today, a wide range of support programs for emerging artists are operated by the government, local authorities, and nonprofit alternative art spaces. These programs continue to discover and support many promising artists each year. However, compared to the relatively active process of identifying new artists, there remain relatively few systematic programs that provide sustained support, enabling them to maintain stable creative practices and establish themselves within the broader art world. The fact that only a limited number of emerging artists go on to sustain long-term careers and establish a distinctive position in the Korean art scene is closely related to this reality. The Chong Kun Dang Chagok Art Award project was conceived in response to this need. By providing meaningful opportunities for artistic production and exhibition to emerging artists whose abilities and potential have already been recognized, the project seeks to support them in developing their practices within a more stable environment and growing into the next generation of artists in the Korean art world. In particular, the Chong Kun Dang Chagok Art Award goes beyond the simple discovery of emerging artists. As a second-stage support program for artists who have already demonstrated their potential through existing artist-support initiatives, it provides a platform for continued artistic production and exhibition.
