행사 소개

1-1. Chunhyangjeon It is a representative love story of Korea that resonates with both men and women. The opera Chunhyangjeon, composed by Hyun Je-myeong, holds the record for the highest number of performances among creative opera pieces since its premiere at the National Theater of Korea in May 1950. As a love story representing Korea, it leaves a deep impression through a stage that combines tradition and modernity, and music infused with Korean sentiment. Beyond simple love, we encounter a story of loyalty, faith, and Korean humor expressed as an opera art. 1-2. A Determination to Die "I can't live on my knees even if I die and die again." It is an opera that portrays the determination of Pastor Joo Ki-chul who chose religious martyrdom by refusing to pay tribute to Japanese shrines and was martyred with grace and beauty despite the unbearable torture of Japanese imperialism to protect his ardent love for God. 2. Korean Liberation Corps Chae Ki-joong, the father of the Korean War of Independence, said, "Just as Ahn Jung-geun executed Itou Hirobumi, a Japanese enemy ringleader, we should execute Jang Seung-won, a threat who petitions for the Korea’s annexation to Japan. We pledge to God of Heaven and Earth to completely drive out the enemy Japan by death in order to restore Korea's sovereignty." Based on the struggle of the Korean Liberation Corps, which became the foundation of Korea’s independence movement, the opera tells the story of people who have not lost hope and belief, even in despair. It will deeply impress the audience through music, and the stage that combines historical truths and Korean emotions. Come and feel the noble spirit of freedom and independence through the art of opera. 주최: 세종문화회관
