Pianist Yoon Sooyoung graduated with highest distinction from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, earning a diploma with distinction. She later completed master’s degrees in piano and chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, and went on to complete the advanced performance program at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Cergy-Pontoise in France. Through these studies she cultivated her musical artistry across major European traditions. In this recital, she seeks to vividly express the emotional depth she encountered while studying the music of the Romantic period — particularly that of Robert Schumann, whose works reflect profound struggle, sorrow, love, and passionate devotion to music. Behind Schumann’s pure love and passion for music lay physical and psychological struggles, social prejudice, and the anxieties born of human imperfection. Rather than concealing these emotions, he transformed them into music. In a modern world that often demands perfection, Schumann’s music delivers a hopeful message — that beauty can emerge even from imperfection.
