Nabucco

행사 소개

Nabucco, King of Babylon, conquers Jerusalem and takes the Hebrew people into captivity. Zaccaria, the High Priest of the Hebrews, holds Nabucco’s daughter Fenena hostage in a desperate attempt to protect his people and their faith. Meanwhile, Abigaille, Nabucco’s elder daughter, discovers the secret of her birth — that she is of slave origin — and is consumed by uncontrollable rage and inferiority. Driven by an insatiable hunger for power, she betrays her father, seizes the throne, and unleashes brutal persecution against the Hebrews. At the height of his arrogance, declaring himself a god, Nabucco is struck down and descends into madness. Amid the ruins of his palace, he comes to recognize his own weakness and, kneeling before the God of the Hebrews, offers a sincere repentance. Regaining his sanity, he makes a final, decisive choice to save Fenena and the Hebrew people from execution. With Abigaille’s downfall comes true liberation, and the Hebrews’ longing song for their homeland resounds across the land — heralding the dawn of a new era of hope. 주최: 세종문화회관
