New Music Series “이ㅅ음 III”

행사 소개

The third program of the New Music Society’s series “ 이ㅅ음 ” ‘ 이ㅅ음 ’ is a compound word of ‘link’ and ‘be’ in Korean and implies a new ‘being’ created by linking different materials and genres. Launched in 2022, the new music series “ 이ㅅ음 ” started with the first program “New Pasori ‘Spring Spring’,” an original Pansori work combining traditional Pansori elements with the contemporary music based on Kim Yoo-jeong’s classic novel “Spring Spring.” The second program “A Scene with Jeongga, Cheongnokpa” transforms some of the poetry by Cheongnokpa poets into an original Jeongga, Korean traditional music form, played on the Western instruments. Following those two programs, the third one this season “War and Peace” aims at reflecting on the meaning of peace to mankind when war is now threatening human life in some parts of the world. Particularly since 2022, the world has been going through serious crisis including the war between Russia and Ukraine, North Korea’s growing nuclear threat, or China’s threat to invade Taiwan. Hence, the New Music Society, in commemoration of the 70th year of the Korean Armistice Agreement, presents a program of the music related to war in the first half and the music wishing for the end of wars, peace to the world and the honor of the victims in the second half. Especially aligning with the purpose of this series, the new music in this program is created from different genres of arts including literature, film or photography about war and peace. And part of the program will be presented with the accompaniment of dance for a dramatic effect. 주최: 세종문화회관
