Sun Flower’s Casket A Korea-Japan joint project by Shinjuku Ryozanpaku and Studio Ban “A family history expressed in deeper and fiercer silence than words” – Korean Japanese, ostracism, discrimination, suicide... Sun Flower’s Casket released in 1991 is an autobiographical work portraying everyday life of a malfunctioning family based on three family members who remain in Yokohama. The elder brother goes through internal malaise ahead of a college entrance examination, the younger sister still suffers from a psychological wound sustained in her childhood and the father has them read letters that were written by their mother who ran away from home. All characters are portrayed as lonely. Mi-ri Yu successfully portrays conflicts among family members and a sense of alienation that they feel through a symbolic tool. 주최: 세종문화회관
