Handel’s oratorio Messiah i s a monumental work in three parts that portrays, in grand musical terms, the birth, Passion, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the journey of humanity’s redemption. With its profound narrative drawn from Scripture, its beautiful arias, and its majestic choruses, it is regarded as Handel’s masterpiece, a work that moves audiences across the ages. This complete performance of Messiah aims to convey the full narrative arc and musical depth of the work. Following its messages of hope and suffering, triumph and salvation, including the beloved “Hallelujah” chorus, audiences will experience both the grandeur and the delicate beauty of Baroque music. Part I — Prophecy and Nativity Drawing on the prophecies of the Old Testament, Part One proclaims the coming of the Messiah who will redeem humanity and celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. The praise of the angels and the joy of the shepherds follow, expressing the longing and hope for salvation and the jubilation of the Nativity in bright, warm music.
