Seoul Metropolitan Ballet Double Bill

행사 소개

Seoul Metropolitan Ballet presents “Kammerballett,” capturing the essence of Hans van Manen's style. Kammerballett is one of the masterpieces of Dutch choreographer Hans van Manen, known as the ‘Mondrian of dance’, and has been staged by leading ballet companies worldwide. A living legend of modern ballet, Manen transformed the Netherlands from a dance barren land into a global dance hub. Beginning with Hans van Manen's Kammerballet, the Seoul Metropolitan Ballet will present contemporary ballet works by various international choreographers. The essence of Hans van Manen's style - sensual and sophisticated colors in costumes and lighting, splendid yet restrained movements, and a sense of rhythm in serious and gentle melodies - can be found in the Seoul Metropolitan Ballet's Kammerballett. With a special appearance by ballerina Kim Ji-young, who performed the work as a member of the Dutch National Ballet, this performance will raise the expectation. Boundary-breaking choreographer Cha Jin-yeob sets the stage for “The Stage of the Ancients.” Cha Jin-yeob, a choreographer who breaks down the boundaries between genres and opens up a new chapter in art with her unrestrained imagination and fearless expression, joins the Seoul Metropolitan Ballet to present her new work, Ritardscendo. Choosing water as the primordial stage where the dance of life begins, Cha sets the stage in the water on the land of contemporary ballet with the beauty of bodies gliding in the swaying abyss. For the first time in Asia, Hans van Manen's Kammerballett, which established the Netherlands as a central hub in the global dance scene, will be presented. The Kammerballett premiered in 1995, featuring dancers Sol Leon and Paul Lightfoot. Since then, the work has been revived by various ballet companies across continental Europe, including the Rhein Opera Ballet, Mainz Ballet, and Stuttgart Ballet in Germany, as well as the National Ballet of Portugal, Zurich Ballet in Switzerland, and La Scala Thea 주최: 세종문화회관
