Pianist Park Bo-kyung Recital with Commentary

Though having earned a bachelor’s degree in educational psychology from Ewha Womans University, Park Bo-kyung never ceased to lose her passion in piano and studied music at Sookmyung Women’s University. Then she advanced to Arizona State University for a Master of Music and Manhattan School of Music for an Artist Diploma, and University of Arizona for a Doctor of Musical Arts. Early in her career, Park developed her musicality by participating in the London International Piano Festival and the New Paltz International Piano Festival. She was also taught by Antoinette Perry at Aspen Music Festival and School on scholarship and was invited to perform solo at the benefit concert for the Freiburg International Music Festival in Germany. She received numerous awards in local competitions such as the Journal of Music Competition and the Chunchu Concour, and won the Grand Prize in the IBLA, the second prizes in the Lois Trester Competition and the Green Valley Piano Competition, in which her performance was broadcast through the KUAT Classical Music and praised for “sensitive but powerful touches.” After her return to Korea, Park taught at Sookmyung Women’s University, Busan National University of Education, Donga University, Kosin University and Busan Arts High School as a guest instructor, and currently teaches at Sangmyung University and its graduate school.
